Finished another draft: Book 7
Hello dear readers,
It's a snowy November day here in my part of the world and all I want to do is cozy up in my apartment under my blanket and read a book. I was wholly unprepared for this snow as the weather warning was only that there was going to be a wet wintery mix, which usually just means a mix of snow and rain. It's normally so wet that the snow doesn't stick to the ground because it's not cold enough. But here I am in early November with inches of snow outside my window.
Good news though: I finished a first draft of another story! I'm excited because I haven't completed anything since July. I wanted to be drafting short stories every month. But things took a turn for me creatively in August and I'm just now getting back into the swing of things when it comes to my writing.
The story I've just finished drafting is a cute autumn themed novelette, currently sitting at 18,415 words. I almost made it to novella length when I was trying to keep this story around the 12,000 word mark! I still don't know why writing shorter things is so challenging for me. I just have a lot to say, I guess lol. But I think the story is really cute.
I'm still having fun writing my erotic fictions and this one has romantic and fluffy elements to it. And since it takes place in the autumn, I hope I did a good job at including those descriptions to build the cozy and colorful atmosphere. There's fall foliage, apple picking, sunflower farms, hot apple cider, and cozy blankets. But there is also lots of steamy fun time too.
I'll be spending the rest of this week slowly editing this draft and purchasing my ISBNs. Yes, you read that right, I'm finally going to buy my ISBNs. I've been talking so much on this blog about the copyright, that I completely forgot about the fact that I need ISBNs because I do not want to use any free ones from the online book distributers/publishers. I'm using the money that I have been saving for a few months and am taking the leap to invest in myself for this.
Unfortunately, ISBNs are expensive. They are even more expensive than getting a copyright, so my wallet is going to be hurting for a while. But I'm willing to finally take the leap of faith that this will work out for me, and who knows, maybe I can sell enough stories that I can make the money back. Breaking even is better than making no money at all.
Anyway! That was my brief update. I am currently sitting at 6 novelettes and 1 novella, for a total of 7 completed stories (even though I still have to edit this most recent one). I've started an 8th story, but I'm struggling with that one and am not sure if I want to finish it. I actually started writing it before I started this seventh story, but something about it just isn't working for me. So, I'll leave it alone for now and go back to it later. Maybe I just need some time away from it. Or maybe I just need to scrap it completely, I don't know. I'll figure it out though. Right now I'm just glad I'm having some creative fun again.
Until next time ~
