Releasing another book because I'm impatient lol...
Soooo...I published another book. And maybe I might've been a bit impatient. It hasn't even been two full weeks since I published my first story, but I will admit that I mostly just wanted to test the waters with my first story. As I mentioned in my previous blog post, Rainy Day In is my shortest story that I've written and I was just mostly wondering if anyone would even be interested in reading it. Well lo and behold, people have been reading it! Not a lot, I'm still a nobody lol. But I've gotten some Kindle reads, and someone even left a rating on Goodreads, bless their heart.
I don't plan on checking Goodreads much. I just wanted to get on there and claim my author page early because I've heard horror stories of people not being able to claim their pages because someone else - who is not them - claimed it first! Like, what even. So, I was able to do that fairly easily. I'm currently waiting to hear back from the Goodreads librarians on whether or not they can update my book cover for Rainy Day In. For whatever reason, they have the book cover that I initially used as a temporary placeholder until I got a better cover. Granted, my final cover is not better by any means, but it didn't work out with the artist I was going to work with so I had to slap something together in Canva. What Goodreads has was literally my cover for around 48 hours and now I can't change it. How annoying. Hopefully someone from Goodreads can help me switch it to the current cover.
Anyway! I've just realized that I didn't even say what my new book is! It's called The Art of Temptation and it is a novelette at a little over 13,000 words. Originally, this was my shortest story and was going to be my first release. But I changed my mind. I did the cover for this one too and I'm actually proud of it. Is it the greatest? No. Does it match the standards of my genre? I don't freakin know, nor do I care.
I've updated my 'Books' section to reflect this new release, so if you're reading this and haven't checked my 'Books' tab, go check it out! Links to purchase are included.
Another Update
I am still waiting on my copyright, but! I finally purchased my ISBNs 😁
For right now, my two releases are only on Amazon for their ebook format (KU), and only The Art of Temptation is also in paperback. Right now it is being approved by Amazon so the paperback is not live and for sale just yet. I do plan on making my paperback available at other locations, but trying to get everything done just for Amazon took hooouurrsss because I'm a newb and have no idea what the heck I'm doing. But I got it all figured out and now it's 1:05am as I'm typing this.
The ISBNs that I purchased, I plan to only use them for the paperback editions for right now as I am currently testing out Kindle Unlimited for 90 days. If I like it, I might renew. If I want to put my ebook in other locations, then I might decline the renewal and do wide distribution. I'll have to see.
I'm having so much fun with this even though some of the non-writing things of trying to be an author aren't. I won't be publishing anything else this month. I'm just going to see how my current stories do. Next month, for February, I might release another two. My current goal is to release one MF and one FF story each month. If I find that doesn't work for me, then I will reevaluate. I'm a mood writer just as much as I am a mood reader which will obviously effect how many of each pairing I actually write. Right now, I have an even amount of each pairing. But my brain has been thinking up many ideas for FF pairings lately. What can I say, I love writing about women because we're awesome (jk...but not really lol)!
Anyway. That's all for today. I'm off to bed so I can get up and go to work in the morning because I am unfortunately not a full-time author yet. A girl can dream though 😴
