May updates

Another month has passed and we are now in June, and yes, I am going to be cliché and say it: Where has the time gone? How are we already half way through 2026??

Usually, I would follow these questions up with: what on earth have I done with my life and time? But this time I can honestly say that I have been writing and publishinnngggg ayyyyeee!

Lol anyway. Let's get into these updates.

Writing updates

I took the month of May off of writing, and believe me, I needed the break. I started the month off traveling to visit some family and upon my return, I promptly got sick. I felt pretty terrible for a while and it completely zapped me. Then after I finally started feeling well enough to get back into the swing of things, Mother Nature brought her monthly gift and I was back to being bedridden for almost a week. When I finally got over that, I just didn't feel like writing any more lol, so I decided to take the rest of the month off.

But besides that, the income I've been making from my published backlog has been slowly but surely growing. For the month of May I was able to finally surpass the $10 mark! AND, AND! Someone purchased another ebook!

I am so happy and grateful to any and everyone that reads my stories through KDP or purchases them. This time around, someone purchased Rainy Day In which happens to be my most read story and the highest rated. Most of my stories don't have any ratings, and I get it. Most erotic fiction doesn't. It's a private experience that people don't like leaving reviews or ratings for. And that's okay. The author side of me would love to see more ratings, but the private reader side of me understands completely. If I ever get any reviews, I won't be looking at those at all.

But anyway, once again to whomever purchased my book, thank you dearly. You've made this girl VERY happy lol.

Publishing income

As I mentioned above, I have finally surpassed the $10 income goal I set for myself. I made eleven whole dollars! 😅 Lollll. But this is still growth for me so I'm gonna celebrate it anyway.

What I've been reading

I still have not finished Inheritance by Nora Roberts. The struggle is real lol. However, I did read a graphic novel called Bingo Love by Tee Franklin. This was not a good reading experience for me. If you plan on reading it, just know that there is rampant unabashed cheating in it which is, and has always been, a HARD NO for me. I just wish I had known about the cheating before going into it. I simply wouldn't have read it.

Social media stuff

I am strugglinnngggg with my social media and I have the strong urge to just delete it all. I know why I am forcing myself to do this, but social media really just isn't fun for me. If I had a large enough audience and made enough money from doing this, I would hire a social media assistant. But alas...

I will give it another month and if I seriously just can't get with the program, I'm going to delete them. I would rather be writing than stressing over what to post and stressing some more when I don't post, and worrying about whether views are going to result in more KDP reads, and on and on and on the stress goes. No thank you.

What's next?

I am thinking of starting a second pen name. I would like to write romance which is what I used to always write before I took the leap and started writing erotic fiction. I started writing erotic fiction to get out of my comfort zone and as a challenge for myself. I ended up really liking it so I continued writing and now I've published some of my stories. But I would still like to write romance as well and have been entertaining that idea for a while now.

However, all the research I've done says that when publishing a new genre, it's best to write it under a new pen name. For instance, I also have a multitude of ideas for paranormal romance. I wouldn't publish it under Izella Fazaid because the people who are reading my sweet but steamy shorts and my erotic fiction (which are all contemporary) might not be interested in my paranormal romance stories. Is it possible that there is overlap in these types of readers? Sure. But it might not be a lot and might not be worth mixing up the genres under the same name. I am still weighing the pros and cons of this before making any decisions though.

In the meantime, I am going to get back to writing. The break was nice...kind of. I mean, I was sick and cramping for most of it, but at least my brain got a break lol

Until next time ~
